The pandemic lock-downs led to the suspension of our normal services, but we are now back to ‘normality’ and every Sunday morning at 10.30. there is a act of worship. Although we no longer ask people to adhere to strict covid regulations, we do ask people to be sympathetic to the needs of others in the congregation (see ‘What’s On?’ for further details). If you would like to listen to one of our services, sound files are available on the ‘Recent Events’ page.
Traditionally there were always two services each Sunday at Immanuel but we no longer hold a regular evening service as in the past. That said, there is worship at Immanuel on ‘special occasions ….such as Remembrance Day. (look at the What’s On page to get any details of forthcoming services.
Our morning ‘Family Service’ at 10.30 am is often quite full (60 /70/ adults), with the opportunity to chat afterwards over a cup of tea or coffee. Any children and young people are with us for the first part of the service but can leave part way through for their own activities. Our teachers and helpers go through the DBS (formerly CRB) checking service. A crèche is available for the very young, and stewards will be happy to introduce you to a crèche leader.
(Right) Coffee in the Hall after the morning service.
Worship in the mornings is enhanced by our excellent church choir.
A service of Holy Communion is normally held monthly (on the 3rd Sunday morning) and this is open to all.
WORKING TOGETHER: MESSY CHURCH
Together with our Partnership churches when covid restrictions permit, we share in a ‘Messy Church’ that meets on the 3rd Sunday afternoon of each month at Bath Road Methodist Church, Old Town, Swindon. It starts at 3.30pm.
We also hold occasional joint services with the other Partnership Churches at Christ Church or Bath Road.
TEA SERVICES
On alternate months from March to November (4.00pm – 5.30pm) an informal afternoon service is held in the Church Hall that includes a cup of tea and a slice of cake. It is an simple act of worship where people can enjoy good company and sing some favourite old hymns and songs.
ROMANIAN PENTECOSTAL CHURCH
From the autumn of 2016 members of the Romanian Pentecostal Church have been meeting at Immanuel and use our premises for worship and other meetings in their own tradition and language.
NEPALESE CHURCH
In a similar way, the local Nepalese community uses our premises on Sunday afternoons for worship in their own language and cultural tradition.
